A New Jersey man received a drug trafficking charge after being found with bricks of cocaine during an I-40 traffic stop in Custer County.

According to a probable cause affidavit 53-year-old Victor Taborda was pulled over by a trooper with the Oklahoma Highway Patrol in the eastbound lanes of Interstate 40 for a simple traffic violation.

The trooper said the suspect appeared nervous and had an odor of alcohol on his person.

Later the trooper would deploy a drug sniffing dog to conduct a free air sniff around the vehicle. When the K9 reached the side door, it alerted to the odor of illegal drugs.

When asked about the possible presence of drugs in the car, Taborda would allegedly confess to being in possession of four kilogram sized bricks of cocaine, which was later recovered by the trooper.

The affidavit also stated that an open can of beer was found inside the vehicle.

Taborda was arrested and booked into the Custer County Jail, and was later charged with aggravated trafficking in illegal drugs.
