Southwestern Oklahoma State University (SWOSU) has announced the winners of the 2024 Brandy Awards, which recognize outstanding staff, administrators, and faculty as well as the winner of the Diversity & Inclusion: Dougherty Award. The award recipients were chosen through online voting by SWOSU students.
As part of the Staff Appreciation Week, all full-time SWOSU staff and faculty members at the Weatherford and Sayre campuses received thank you notes from the campus wide community. The appreciation notes aim to show gratitude and recognition for their hard work and dedication to the university.
The Dougherty Award, named after the late Dean of Students Cindy Dougherty, is presented to those who demonstrate a strong commitment and advocate for cultural diversity. This year’s winner of the Diversity & Inclusion: Dougherty Award is Mihaela Ifrim, International Students Services Coordinator, for her outstanding efforts toward promoting diversity and inclusion at SWOSU.
The winners of the 2024 Brandy Awards are Mihaela Ifrim, International Students Services Coordinator, Diversity & Inclusion: Dougherty Award; Amber Sturgeon, Associate Professor in the Department of Kinesiology, Advisor of the Year and Faculty Member of the Year; and Taylor Matthews, Administrative Assistant in the College of Professional & Graduate Studies, Staff Member of the Year.
Each award recipient receives the Oklahoma Brandy Award plaque in their respective category to showcase for the next academic year. SWOSU congratulates the winners and thanks all faculty and staff for their contributions to the SWOSU community.
