Several Elk City High School students are getting an early start in college.

Southwestern Oklahoma State University-Sayre Registrar Terry Billey spent the day recently at ECHS enrolling students in SWOSU fall classes that will be taught at the high school.

“Elk City Schools asked if we’d be willing to teach classes on the high school campus beginning last fall, and the arrangement has worked out wonderfully,” said SWOSU-Sayre Site Coordinator and math faculty member Bill Swartwood.

ECHS administrators expect at least 75 of their students to take SWOSU classes taught by Sayre and Weatherford faculty at ECHS in the fall.

SWOSU faculty are also teaching classes at ECHS this semester.

American Government & Politics, English Composition I, History of Rock N Roll, Medical Terminology, and College Algebra are the SWOSU classes being offered at ECHS next fall.

Many classes taught at the SWOSU campus in Sayre are broadcast live via Zoom for students who can’t make it to Sayre, providing greater flexibility to obtain a college education.

For more information about SWOSU-Sayre classes, call 580-928-5533. Fall classes begin Aug. 19.
