A three car accident on the east side of Elk City sent three individuals to the hospital Wednesday afternoon.

According to Elk City Police Chief Eddie Holland, the accident occurred at the intersection of State Highway 34 and Route 66 between a Jeep and a pickup hauling a horse in a trailer.

He said the collision caused heavy damage to both vehicles, and the intersection lights. Currently, stop signs are being used at the intersection until repairs can be made.

Names of the drivers and injured were not released.

Holland concluded by saying the horse did suffer a minor injury to it’s nose, but appears to be fine. He said concerned citizens found a temporary place for the horse until the owners can get a replacement truck and trailer.

The crash remains under investigation.
