Classes in Clinton were canceled Wednesday following what appeared to be a threat towards the school on social media.

The announcement came late Tuesday night in a message sent to parents from Clinton Superintendent Tyler Bridges. Bridges said the message was discovered on Snapchat and had been referred to the Clinton Police Department for further investigation.

The message itself did not specifically name what school the threat was made to, but it showed what appeared to be a person with a gun and in the caption saying “CHS” and “don’t go to school tomorrow”.

Later in the evening, officials said that the message itself appeared to be unwarranted and had originated in Clovis, New Mexico, however classes in Clinton remained closed on Wednesday.

Another school has taken the message seriously as well.

Chickasha Public School also announced that they too were investigating the message as a possible threat towards their campus. Chickasha, however, did not cancel school.
