Roger Mills County, OK – A coordinated effort between local and state law enforcement led to the arrest of a suspect connected to a poaching incident over the weekend.
According to Beckham County Sheriff Derek Manning, the case began in Roger Mills County, where authorities issued a BOLO, be on the lookout alert, for a vehicle with Louisiana license plates tied to illegal hunting activity.
An off-duty Beckham County deputy later spotted the vehicle and alerted other law enforcement agencies. Responding units were able to locate the suspect and take him into custody.
The individual now faces multiple charges, including hunting without consent, shooting from a roadway, and unlawful possession. Authorities report the total fines amount to approximately $4,025.
Sheriff Manning emphasized the seriousness of wildlife violations, noting that game wardens strictly enforce these laws.
The arrest was the result of a joint effort involving multiple agencies. Oklahoma Department of Wildlife Conservation Lt. James Edwards expressed appreciation for the assistance, and Manning echoed that sentiment.
“It was a big team effort,” Manning said.
