High School Basketball Results

The Elk City basketball teams returned to action on the road last night in Cache to face the Lady Bulldogs and Bulldogs after a week long hiatus.

Elkettes vs. Lady Bulldogs

The Elkettes played their best game of the season in a 57-36 win over Cache. The Lady Bulldogs scored the first basket before the Elkettes went on a 15-0 run and never looked back. Elk City had 3 different players set career highs in points with Y’Leigh Yarbrough pouring in 21, Caylin Burton had 13, and Riley Wyatt’s 6. The Elkettes knocked home 19/22 from the free throw stripe. Coach Hamm’s squad evened their record at 5-5 with their 3rd win in the last 4. They’ll tip off tomorrow afternoon at 2:30 against Star Spencer in the first round of the Shortgrass Invitational in Altus.

Elk City vs. Cache

The Elks and Bulldogs played a classic. Elk City trailed Cache 48-34 heading into the 4th quarter before outscoring the Bulldogs 14-0 in the 4th capped by this hustle play from Freshman Cole Buie. In the first Overtime the Elks trailed by 3 with under a minute left. Unfortunately in the 2nd OT Cache was too much, pulling away to win 67-60 in double OT. Dunlap paced the Elks with a career high 25, including 6 made 3’s through the night. The Elks will play Altus tomorrow night at 7 in the first round of the Shortgrass Invitational.

Merrit Basketball at Cordell

ParagonTV had a slew of games available last night as well. Merritt swept a pair in Cordell. The Oilertettes pounded the Lady Blue Devils 62-33. The Oilers did the same to the Blue Devils 58-30.

Hammon at Sweetwater

Hammon won two in Sweetwater. The Lady Warriors bludgeoned the Lady Bulldogs 80-33. They had 3 in double figures with Addison Walker and Henley west scoring 11, Maley Cheney had 10. The Warriors hammered the Bulldogs 83-50.

Arapaho-Butler vs. Burns Flat-Dill City

Arapaho-Butler’s Lady Indians won their first round game in the West Central Tournament 55-13 over Burns Flat-Dill City. Katie Edelin poured in 21 for Arapaho-Butler.

Cheyene-Reydon vs. Shattuck

Shattuck swept a pair from Cheyene-Reydon. The Lady Indians edged the Lady Bears 48-42. Abbie Barton had 20 for C-R. The Bears fell to the Indians 61-44.
