Clinton Lady Reds win the Large School Division in the girls’ golf tournament held at Riverside Golf Course

The girls’ golf tournament at Riverside Golf Course in Clinton this morning was a tightly contested affair in the Large School Division, with the host Clinton Lady Reds holding off their I-40 rivals, Weatherford and Elk City, for the team title with a score of 363. Weatherford finished two shots back in second place at 365, while Elk City placed third with a score of 367.

In the individual category, Elkette Sr. Brett Barnett was crowned the Large School Medalist after firing a sub 80 round of 78. Clinton’s Addyson Littke came in second with an 83, followed by Weatherford’s McKinley Elwick at 85. Clinton’s Rylee Cummings was the only other player in the large school field to break 90, shooting an 89. Clinton’s Grace Meacham scored a 95, while Kat Meacham and Kambree Davis each scored 96. Rachel Carruth led Weatherford’s team scores with a 90, while Bayli Lawles and Regan Rosenkrantz both shot 95. Addison Elwick scored a 98 for Weatherford. Elk City’s last four scores were 91 from Campbell Rainey, 94 from Jayden Manning, and 104 from both Caylin Burton and Camryn Edney. Elliott Rainey played as an individual and shot 113. Clinton had two individuals with Addison Newcomb scoring a 96 and Jocelyn King with a 102.

In the small school division, Turner, the two-time defending Class 2A State champion, shot a blazing 297 to take the team title. Mooreland came in second with a score of 360, while Turner’s B team placed third with a score of 381. Individually, Turner’s Josey Cavitt was under par at 69, followed by her teammate Jaci Hartman at 71. Braylee Foster, also from Turner, fired a 78, and a fourth Turner Lady Falcon, Hope Hill, tied for fourth place with Mooreland’s Evelynn Sturgill, both scoring 79.

Merritt finished fourth in the small school division with a team score of 390. Bentli Whitson led the OIlerettes with an 87, followed by Peytyn Broadbent with a score of 97. Madison Robinson came in with a score of 100, while Myleigh Flowers shot 106.

In the small school division, there were also several impressive individual performances. Cordell’s Birdie Brown shot 82 and Katilyn Babek came in with a 95. Duke’s Skye Classen shot 111, while BFDC had three participants: Gabbie Clayton with 113, Aubree Moore with 115, and Seven Hartronft with 120.

Overall, it was an exciting day of golf at the Riverside Golf Course, with some impressive performances from the players. Congratulations to all the winners and participants!
