On Wednesday, September 14, five pleas took place in the 100th Judicial District Court in Hall County, Texas.

One of those pleas ultimately saw a Wellington, Texas man sentenced to serve a lengthy amount of time in prison.

According to a press release, 60-year-old Juan Jose Sanchez was sentenced to 15 years in prison for the second degree felony offense of possession of a controlled substance after being found with methamphetamine when he was arrested in Collingsworth County, Texas on November 1, 2021.

Sanchez was originally placed on probation on February 15.

The State filed a motion asking the Court to adjudicate Sanchez’s probation on August 23, alleging five violations of probation.

Sanchez was also ordered to pay the remaining $500 fine, $376 in court costs and $180 in restitution.

In a separate case, Sanchez was also sentenced to 15 years in prison for a first degree felony offense of possession of methamphetamine.

This offense stemmed from another arrest in Collingsworth County on December 7, 2021, one month after the second degree arrest. Sanchez pleaded guilty to this offense on the same date.

Notably, the judge on the case ordered that the second 15-year sentence not begin to run until the defendant completes the first 15-year sentence.
