A Weatherford man was arrested and charged last week after being accused of distributing counterfeit opioid pills allegedly containing fentanyl.

According to a probable cause affidavit, investigators first became aware of the subject after receiving a 911 call on June 14 from 20-year-old Tryston Richard Proa stating that he had discovered his roommate deceased in an apartment the two shared in the 700 block of West Davis.

When authorities arrived they found the deceased roommate along with multiple pieces of tin foil and cut straws throughout the apartment. Officials also found a single blue tablet that investigators believed to be a substance commonly referred to as an “M-30” tablet.

Two days later, while interviewing the deceased’s girlfriend, investigators were told that she was aware that the man had been taking the pills, and that she had received a text the night before he was discovered deceased, that he along with Proa were going to smoke pills with a third individual.

Authorities would locate the third individual that was mentioned in the text and interview her. She would tell police that on that night, they had smoked marijuana and she said she had witnessed Proa along with the roommate smoke one of the M-30 pills. She also told authorities that she witnessed Proa walking around with a plastic baggie containing hundreds of M-30 tablets.

Later police were able to obtain a picture of a bag full of pills from one of Proa’s social media accounts. Other posts and messages obtained by investigators would allegedly detail the suspect’s attempts to sell marijuana and M-30 tablets.

Authorities were made aware of Proa’s whereabouts on August 21 – where they were able to successfully find and arrest him.

Proa was charged with one felony count of distribution of a controlled dangerous substance where, if convicted, could face up to 7 years in jail and a fine of up to $100,000.

Bond for Proa has been set at $50,000.
