SWOSU is currently accepting nominations for the 2024 Bernhardt Academic Excellence Award. The nomination deadline is on Jan. 16, 2024, with nomination credentials due on Feb. 13, 2024. A selection will be made no later than March 7, and the Recognition Award Event is scheduled for Thursday, March 14, 2024, from 5–7 p.m. for all faculty and honoring the recipient.

Established in 1994 by Dr. Bill and Theta Juan Bernhardt, the Bernhardt Academic Excellence Award acknowledges SWOSU faculty members who have demonstrated exceptional achievements in teaching, scholarship, and service. The recipient will receive recognition, a cash award, and the Bernhardt Medallion.

Eligibility extends to all full-time faculty members with at least one academic year of service. Nominees should showcase excellence in teaching and be recognized as outstanding educators with a record of accomplishments valued by SWOSU students, the community, and the state. Embodying SWOSU’s core values of excellence, integrity, leadership, loyalty, respect, and selfless service, nominees must contribute to instilling these values in students, preparing them for a successful future and encouraging good citizenship.
