After a two year hiatus, The city of Shamrock, Texas will host its 75th Annual St. Patrick’s Day Celebration this weekend.

This year’s theme for the celebration will feature the “Reflecting on the Past, Looking to the Future” Diamond Jubilee theme.

The weekend of events will kick off Friday with the opening of the carnival at 4 p.m., located at 100 E. The banquet will honor St. Patrick’s Day founder Glen Truax, Grammy award winner and Songwriter Bill Mack, and State Sen. Drew Springer and will be catered by Desperado’s BBQ. The first day of festivities will close with a Country Club dance beginning at 8 p.m., with doors opening at 6 p.m. It will feature music by Convoy and the Cattlemen in the Shamrock Country Club.

The fun continues Saturday at 8 a.m. with a 5K run for life and one-mile walk hosted by the Knights of Columbus. Admission is $20 per person to join and includes a free T-shirt. Attendees are also encouraged to attend the Old Settlers Reunion, Donegal Beard Contest, and Shotgun Shoot before the 75th Annual St. Patrick’s Parade, beginning at 10:30 a.m.

After the parade, St. Patrick’s Day revelers are encouraged to enjoy the town’s carnival opening at noon and other events including the Arts & Crafts Show, Motorcycle Rally & Poker Run, Cornhole Tournament, Legends Car Show, Ranch Rodeo, Crowning of Miss Irish Rose, Rusty’s Wing Eating Contest, Green Beer Pour, a concert with Christian artist Ryan Stevenson at the Shamrock High School Auditorium, and the Big Dance featuring Cody Canada & the Departed and Seth Ward & The Silence.
