Sayre Man Accused of Attempting to Steal Car

A Sayre man was arrested and charged recently after allegedly attempting to steal a car.

Turns out, the car belonged to an employee of the Beckham County Sheriff’s Office.

According to the probable cause affidavit, the incident took place on the evening of May 2 at a home in the 600 block of E. Benton Street in Sayre, when the homeowner caught 38-year-old Sean Robert Dearing allegedly in the parked vehicle and had started the ignition.

When approached by the victim, the defendant would flee the scene.

After being dispatched to the area, Sayre Police quickly located Dearing and detained him before being identified by the car owner.

Home security footage was also used in helping identify the subject.

Dearing would be placed under arrested and booked into the Beckham County Jail.

He received one felony charge of third degree burglary and bond was set at $15,000.
