The latest payment towards Elk City’s Aquatic Center was approved recently by the Elk City Commission.

The approved payment of just under $152,000 ($152,830.55) came during the latest meeting of the Commissioners on Monday night and will go towards the purchase of furniture for the facility, which is still under construction in Ackley Park.

Mayor Cory Speiker said the purchase is needed now in order for the furniture to arrive in time for the facility’s opening.

Speiker said the pool is on pace to open in late May or early June.
