ODOT Approves $9 Billion in Highway Projects, Including Clinton I-40 Interchange Improvements

The Oklahoma Transportation Commission approved approximately $9 billion in highway construction and safety projects in the latest edition of the Oklahoma Department of Transportation’s (ODOT) Eight-Year Construction Work Plan.

One of the approved projects includes an interchange improvement project along I-40 at I-40 Business in Clinton.

That project is projected to cost a little over $59,000 and will involve on and off-ramp improvements along Gary Boulevard and Red Wheat Drive.

ODOT officials said the state considered inflation and the changing economic climate in supply costs and adjusted the plan accordingly. Construction costs have increased by over 60% since 2022. While some projects have been redistributed in the plan due to these increases, no projects were removed from the construction plan.

Also approved in the plan were silane treatments to waterproof seal sites (locations to be determined) at a value of $95,000, and $100,000.01 for right-of-way at an unnamed creek located 1.4 miles east of State Highway 34 in Custer County.

The I-40 project in Clinton is expected to begin in May of next year and will take three years to complete.
