A Weatherford man is wanted in Custer County after being charged with felony value false pretense after allegedly making false charges and obtaining nearly $2,200 in merchandise from a Weatherford hardware store.

According to the probable cause affidavit 21-year-old Nicholas Earl Weathers is accused of going into the store and charging items that included multiple coolers and chainsaws to his former employer’s account. When contacted by investigators, the former employer would say that Weathers was terminated from employment a few months prior to the charges and that he was no longer authorized to charge to that account.

Weathers is accused of using another man’s name – who is currently employed at the business – to make the charges.

It was also stated in the affidavit that an officer reviewed security footage from the incident and was able to identify the male subject in the video as Weathers after comparing it to a previous book-in photo.

Weathers was also charged with false personation in the case.
