Elk City’s latest water line replacement project is about to begin.

City Manager Tom Ivester says crews are already closing portions of Main Street between 3rd and 7th streets to begin the process of replacing the 100-year-old water line.

He says this is the first phase of the two phase project.

Back in December, the Elk City Commission approved a bid from Orr Construction for just under $1,741,000. The City has received nearly $2 million in ARPA (American Rescue Plan Act) funds, and says those funds will pay for this phase of the project.
