A Leedey man is in critical condition after being involved in a two vehicle accident in northwest Custer County Saturday afternoon.

According to the Oklahoma Highway Patrol’s collision report, the accident occurred at approximately 1:01p.m. on OK-34, 8 miles north of Hammon when while traveling northbound on the highway a 2012 Dodge 3500 was struck from behind by a 2010 Honda Civic driven by 31-year-old Michael K. Smith while slowing down to make a turn onto a county road.

OHP said Smith was flown to OU Medical Center in Oklahoma City where he was admitted in critical condition with trunk internal and leg injuries. Troopers said the driver of the Dodge along with a passenger were not injured in the wreck.

The report said that Smith was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash.
