Kayaks Could Be Coming To Elk City’s Ackley Park West

Something new might be coming here to Elk City. Something our small town has not seen before. And that is the new Kayak Rentals that might be placed over at the lake by the lighthouse at the Elk City Walking Path. The idea is that the kayaks would be available to be used anytime of the day because it would be unattended. You would pay by logging in on your phone and when it gives you the pin you would enter it on the lock and go kayaking. When you are finished you would then put up the equipment and once it is fully secured then the timer on your phone that would be counting how long you have been using the kayak and the safety equipment would then stop. It would then charge the ending total. The idea has just went to the Elk City Commission Meeting and hasn’t been voted on as of yet. If they decide to proceed with this idea there will be four kayaks and that will likely be placed in their metal cage over by the Splash Pad.
