Deer season will be here before you know it and those needing to take a hunter education course before the season begins has two opportunities.

According to Lt. James Edwards with the Oklahoma Department of Wildlife, both courses will take place on September 17 with one in Granite and the other in Elk City.

Edwards says registration is currently open for both events.

Links to register can be found on our website. (Granite Link) (Elk City Link)

Edwards says the education course in Granite will take place at the Granite Senior Citizen Center, while the course in Elk City will take place at the Elk City Law Enforcement Range and Training Center. There, attendees will participate in a live firing class.

Participants must be at least 10-years-old to take the test, and lunch will be provided by the Elk Creek Strutters Chapter of the NWTF at the Elk City location.
