A Weatherford woman is wanted in Beckham County after being charged with assault and battery with a dangerous weapon.

According to court documents the woman, 47-year-old Sherry Ann Hatfield, is accused of hitting a man on the head with a metal sign.

The probable cause affidavit showed that Elk City Police were dispatched to a fast food restaurant in the 2100 block of E. 7th on February 11 on a call of a possible assault case.

When police arrived they found the victim, an employee of the restaurant holding his head and pointing to a woman and telling police “that is her”.

After speaking with the man, police were told that Hatfield had placed a metal sign on the restaurant’s property without permission. When the employee attempted to remove the sign, the defendant allegedly would grab the sign and hit the man on the head, causing injury.

While speaking with police, Hatfield admitted to the assault and had offered several times to apologize.

At the time, the victim was unsure if he wanted to press charges and Hatfield was released from the scene.

However, the felony assault charge was levied against Hatfield last week in Beckham County District Court and the bench warrant was issued.

As of press time, she has not been arrested.
