Today marks the 78th anniversary of D-Day. The day many consider when the tide was changed in World War II, thanks to the allied invasion of Normandy, France led by the United States.

To commemorate this, the American Legion Post #181 in Elk City will be hosting a hamburger fry tonight and veterans of any war are invited to attend.

Spokesperson, and veteran, Gene Smith Junior said the purpose of the event is to provide health benefit information for area veterans.

Tonight’s event will begin at 6:30 p.m. at the First Christian Church Family Center in Elk City. Smith also reminds veterans that the group does meet every first Monday of the month at that location at 6:30 p.m. to discuss various subjects that could benefit veterans.
