FEMA and the Oklahoma Department of Emergency Management are still working on Oklahoma’s recovery from the April 25 – May 9 severe storms and tornadoes despite the Disaster Recovery Center in Cordell closing on Tuesday.

More than $9.39 million in federal grants, loans, and flood insurance payments have been approved for homeowners, renters, and businesses.

Of that money, $5.62 million in FEMA grants went to 985 families, $3.77 million in disaster loans from the U.S. Small Business Administration went to businesses, homeowners, and renters, and $4,800 in National Flood Insurance Program claims were paid to policy holders.

Officials remind those affected that the deadline to apply for FEMA assistance is July 1. Residents in Washita County that feel like they were affected by the storm that took place on April 30 can apply multiple ways that include visiting DisasterAssistance.gov, downloading the FEMA App, or by calling the FEMA Help line at 800-621-3362.

Other counties receiving FEMA assistance include Carter, Craig, Hughes, Johnston, Kay, Lincoln, Love, McClain, Murray, Nowata, Okfuskee, Okmulgee, Osage, Ottawa, Pontotoc, Pottawatomie, and Washington.

FEMA teams visited more than 8,800 homes and continue to coordinate with the state to reimburse the costs of emergency services, debris removal, and repair damaged public infrastructure.
