Fatal Jackson County Accident Under Investigation

A fatal pedestrian accident in Jackson County on April 16 is under investigation says the Oklahoma Highway Patrol.

According to the collision report provided by the OHP on Monday, the accident occurred just before 10:30 p.m. April 16 at 500 S. Bar-S Boulevard in Altus, and involved a 2017 Hyundai Elantra and the pedestrian identified as being 62-year-old Colesta C. Loud of Lawton.

As a result, Loud was pronounced deceased at the Jackson County Memorial Hospital in Altus.

In a separate accident in Jackson County, a Vernon, Texas man was hospitalized after being hit on OK-6 while riding a motorcycle.

Troopers said this accident occurred Sunday afternoon just before 4:30, 1 mile north of Olustee when while riding his 2005 Harley Davidson, 48-year-old Michael R. Alvarado was struck by an oncoming 2019 GMC Sierra that failed to negotiate a curve.

As a result, Alvarado was flown to OU Medical Center in Oklahoma City where he was admitted with head, trunk internal, trunk external, arm and leg injuries.

The driver of the Sierra was uninjured.
