Emily Gill and Emma Youngblood Win Miss SWOSU Titles

Emily Gill, a junior from Lawton at Southwestern Oklahoma State University, won the crown of Miss SWOSU 2022, and Emma Youngblood of Comanche and Walters High School won the title of Miss SWOSU’s Outstanding Teen at Saturday’s (January 29) competitions on the Weatherford campus.

Gill will represent SWOSU at this summer’s Miss Oklahoma Competition, while Youngblood advances to the Miss Oklahoma’s Outstanding Teen Competition, which is held the same week in June at the Miss Oklahoma Competition in Tulsa.

Gill, a graduate of Lawton Eisenhower High School, won a $2,400 SWOSU scholarship and $1,000 cash award for winning the title. Gill also won the Talent Award at the competition.

Angela Nichols of Altus finished as first runner-up and winner of a $1,200 scholarship. Kaysa Carpenter of Cordell was second runner-up and winner of a $1,000 scholarship. Finishing as third runner-up and winner of a $800 scholarship was Amy White of Tipton.

The Crowd Pleaser Award was won by Olga Castaneda of Pampa (TX), and the Peer Respect & Leadership was won by Kaitlyn Shrick of Frederick.

For winning the Miss SWOSU’s Outstanding Teen title, Youngblood, age 16, won a $500 scholarship to SWOSU and $500 cash award.

Kya Carpenter of Cordell (Corn Bible Academy) finished as first runner-up. Carpenter also won the Talent Award. The Spirit Award was won by Leah Hoyt of Cache, and the Crowd Pleaser Award was won by Gabrielle Clayton of Clinton (Burns Flat/Dill City High School).
