An Elk City teen was admitted into the hospital over the weekend after being involved in a one vehicle accident in Roger Mills County.

According to the collision report provided by the Oklahoma Highway Patrol, the accident occurred Sunday morning at approximately 3:35 a.m., 2 miles south and 4 miles west of Hammon on a county road when the 2007 Chevy Silverado driven by a 16-year-old boy failed to negotiate a curve at an intersection and would ultimately roll two times, ejecting the driver.

Troopers said the teen was transported and admitted into Great Plains Regional Medical Center in Elk City with head, arm, and leg injuries. He was last listed to be in fair condition.

OHP listed the cause of the mishap as being “too fast for the road conditions”.

Troopers also said that the driver was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash.

Due to the driver’s age, the name of the juvenile has not been released.
