During the latest Elk City Commissioners meeting held Monday night, Commissioners approved the purchase of a large amount of land.

City Manager Tom Ivester describes why the Commission chose to move forward with the purchase of 80 acres that is located east of Walmart.

The approved purchase was in the amount of $480,000.

The purchase comes on the heels of the city annexing a little over 55 acres of property located south of East 7th Street near Walmart. The annexation saw 3.11 acres zoned as C-2 (commercial) with the rest zoned as A-1 (agriculture).
