The process of the City of Elk City’s next major water line project has begun.

During the latest meeting of the Elk City Commission, Commissioners approved a bid received from Orr Construction for the replacement of a 100-year-old water line underneath Main Street.

City Manager Tom Ivester says this is the first phase of the two phase project.

The approved bid was for just under $1,741,000. Ivester says the City has received nearly $2 million in ARPA (American Rescue Plan Act) funds, and says those funds will pay for this phase of the project.
