Elk City Officers Honored with Prestigious Award for Outstanding Service

Elk City, OK — On Wednesday, September 18, 2024, during the Elk City City Commissioner’s Meeting, two local officers were honored with the Award of Commendation by the Oklahoma Association Chiefs of Police. This prestigious award recognizes outstanding service, performance, and contributions that go beyond the scope of regular duties within the department or the community.

Captain Detective Sammy Weygand and Lieutenant Detective Raymond Chatham were selected for the award for their exemplary work on a high-priority criminal investigation involving child victims. The officers had previously been recognized on May 23, 2024, at the Oklahoma Chiefs of Police Award Banquet in Durant, Oklahoma.

The formal presentation of the award took place at the Elk City Council Meeting in front of council members and City Manager. The award was presented by the Oklahoma Association Chiefs of Police Representative, Assistant Chief of Police Daimon Alexander.

This recognition highlights the officers’ commitment to justice and their extraordinary efforts in protecting the community.
