August 20, 2024

An Elk City man being held at the Beckham County Jail on an assault and battery with intent to kill charge has now been charged with five counts of lewd or indecent acts with a child under 16.

Court records show that 52-year-old Frank Bates Whitehead III received the additional charges on August 7 in Beckham County District Court.

Documents indicate that the investigation into these allegations was led by the Elk City Police Department and began in January after authorities received a report of the alleged abuse.

A probable cause affidavit revealed that the alleged abuse began in April 2023.

Whitehead’s next court date is scheduled for Monday.
