During the latest meeting of the Elk City Commission, the city leaders approved the purchase of a land in city limits that came at a pretty reasonable price.

By a unanimous vote, the Commission approved to purchase the property located on South Washington, better known as the old Peeler Soccer Park, in the amount of $50,000.

City Manager Tom Ivester says the land was city property at one time before being deeded back to the family.

Ivester says by purchasing the 14 acre property, it will tie in the city-owned land just to the north of the area.

He told the commission there is no plan for the recently purchased land, and said the city could ultimately sell the property in the future.
