Dogs Uninjured In Elk City Residential Fire

A New Year’s Day fire was contained to one room of an Elk City home.

Crews with the Elk City Fire Department were dispatched to the home in the 4100 block of W. 3rd Street just before 10 p.m. Sunday night. Once they arrived, they were able to contain the blaze to one room where Chief Kyle Chervenka says the room was damaged and contents were destroyed.

He said the home was unoccupied at the time of the fire, and said that the cause was determined to be “smoking material”.

Chervenka said that three small dogs were found inside the home, and were safely removed and uninjured.
