During the latest Oklahoma Aeronautics Commission meeting the design costs for the construction of a new box hangar at Clinton Regional Airport was approved.

Oklahoma Aeronautics Airport Engineer Ben Naghavi says the hangar will replace one of the hangars that was heavily damaged by a tornado in October 2021.

During the OAC’s September meeting, the Commission approved an amendment to the 2023-2027 Airport Construction Program to add funds to the project that will see proposed grant dollars go towards the replacement of the hangar.

Earlier engineer estimates on the project came in at around $743,000. The commission approved just under $223,000 in grant funds to go towards that project.

The tornado that damaged the airport occurred on the night of October 12, 2021 and caused an estimated $7 million in damages.
