A Texas man was injured after attempting to avoid hitting a deer in Beckham County.

According to the collision report from the Oklahoma Highway Patrol, the one vehicle mishap occurred approximately at 9:29 a.m. Sunday when while traveling on S.H. 30 five and a half miles south of Erick, 21-year-old Raul Rojas Junior of Childress, Texas swerved to miss hitting a deer with his 1999 Chevrolet pickup.

OHP says while doing so, Rojas would depart the road to the right, over-correct, and then depart to the left. The pickup would strike a ditch, causing it to overturn one half time – landing on its top.

OHP says Rojas was airlifted to a Lubbock, Texas hospital where he was admitted in stable condition with a head injury.
