Clinton, Weatherford Develop Councilman Races

Declarations of candidacy for two area city councils were open to the public last week and saw two races develop in two of Western Oklahoma’s largest cities.

In Weatherford for Ward 1, three residents declared their intentions for the seat. Those included Terri Lockhart, Madella Shelton, and Kendon Wood. Three residents also declared candidacy for Ward 3. Those three include Chad Martin, Rebecca Carman and Warren Goldmann.

The two incumbents for Wards 1 and 3 did not file.

In Clinton incumbent Ward 3 councilman Patch McComas is being challenged by Stormie Hill.

Ward 1 councilman Ernesto Villanueva will retain the seat after not drawing an opponent.

The primary election will be on September 12. The general election will be November 14.
