A Clinton man has been charged with assault and battery with a dangerous weapon in Custer County District Court after allegedly threatening to kill a woman with a knife.

According to a probable cause affidavit, 58-year-old Ronnie Darnell Lister was charged last week after police responded to a home in the 500 block of Eastside Street in reference to a man with a knife on April 21. When they arrived they were told by a woman that the defendant had come over to her with a knife and allegedly threatened to kill her.

The woman said the threat occurred while she was sitting in a parked car.

She said shortly after the threat she would contact police. This would prompt Lister to run from the scene.

Later, the next morning police were dispatched once again to the scene in reference to Lister returning to the home, this time with a knife and a gun.

After speaking with witnesses, police were told that while two women, and a man were sitting in a car, Lister allegedly walked up to the trio and once again brandished a knife. He also would grab his waist line and claim that he had a pistol – although the witnesses could not confirm that they actually saw the defendant holding a gun.

A short time later Lister was located by police and arrested without incident.

A search of Lister would turn up a large pocket knife however no firearm was located.
