Once again, The City of Clinton is seeking a company to operate the city’s hospital once it re-opens.

During the regular meeting of the Clinton Hospital Authority it was announced that the management services agreement between the City of Clinton and Carrus Health were officially terminated.

The Hospital Authority also voted to end pay and benefits for full time hospital employees at the end of the month.

In the wake of the vote by Clinton citizens to free up more than $11 million to go towards the eventual reopening of the hospital, it was announced last month that it would take over a year and nearly $6.2 million to go towards just the first phase of reopening. Based on that news, city officials said that it was in both the city’s and Carrus’ best interest to part ways.

This break-up now saves the City of Clinton a monthly fee of $68,000 that would have gone to the company.

However the recently opened urgent care center at the hospital will remain open for the time being.
