A more efficient way of detecting contraband being smuggled into a local county jail is coming.

According Beckham County Sheriff Derek Manning, his department has been approved to purchase body scanners for the Beckham County Jail that he says will address the jail’s biggest problem.

Manning said the equipment will cost $130,000 and he anticipates it to be installed and ready for use as soon as next month.
