A Cheyenne woman was arrested in Custer County recently after being found with a juvenile while allegedly driving under the influence.

According to the probable cause affidavit filed by the Custer County Sheriff’s Department, 57-year-old Lynda Dianna Bentley was pulled over on April 16 on Interstate 40 near Clinton, after the vehicle she was driving matched the description of a vehicle that was possibly being driven by an impaired driver.

When a Custer County Deputy gained access to the vehicle he would find the defendant along with a 12-year-old female in the passenger seat inside the car.

The report stated that the driver had told the deputy that she had consumed wine earlier in the day. She would later fail a field sobriety test.

The woman would also tell the deputy that a loaded handgun was inside the car. The deputy was able to locate and secure the .357 magnum revolver, which was located in the pocket of the drivers side door.

Bentley was arrested and booked into the Custer County Detention Center.

The child was handed over to a parent later that day.

The defendant was later charged in Custer County District Court with child endangerment by driving under the influence and one count of carrying a firearm while under the influence, with bond set at $50,000.

A preliminary hearing has been scheduled for May 27.
