Wheeler County, Texas — Voters in Wheeler and Shamrock, Texas made their picks in several local races on Saturday, including city council contests and a competitive race for the Parkview Hospital Board.
In Wheeler, incumbents and challengers split the contested city council seats. Bryan Markham secured re-election to Place 3 with a total of 122 votes, defeating Keith Rose, who earned 59. Meanwhile, in Place 5, incumbent Tracy Tignor was re-elected after collecting 97 votes compared to challenger Amy Zybach’s 79
Mayor Dale Kidd and Kelli Hampton (Place 1) were both unopposed and retain their seats.
The City of Wheeler Tax Proposition passed comfortably with 142 votes for and 35 against.
In the Wheeler ISD school board race, M. Helton-Copeland led all candidates with 149 votes, securing a seat alongside B. Koepke, who followed with 94.
For the Parkview Hospital Board, incumbent Brenda Sparlin won the At-Large position over Pam Hibler, 209-84.
In Shamrock, four candidates competed for three open city council seats. The results were close but saw Brandon Arnold (91 votes), Jeanne Crossland (90 votes), and Jim Baker (81 votes) all elected to council seats.
