
Childress, TX – On Wednesday, September 3, three pleas were heard in the 100th Judicial District Court in Childress County. One of those pleas involved a Wellington man.
Luke Inman, District Attorney for the 100th Judicial District, and Assistant District Attorney Harley Caudle prosecuted the cases for the State of Texas, with the Honorable Judge Stuart Messer presiding by assignment.
Johnnie Ray Lewis, 49, of Wellington, was sentenced to 20 months in state jail for the felony offense of theft that occurred in Childress County on June 28, 2016.
Lewis was originally placed on probation for the offense on October 12, 2017. On September 27, 2021, the State filed a motion to adjudicate his probation, alleging 20 violations of its conditions.
In addition to his sentence, Lewis was ordered to pay $289 in court costs, a $500 fine, and $10,000 in restitution.
