A Weatherford man is accused of shooting a gun at a person and also attempting to run the victim over in his vehicle.

The man has since pleaded no contest to the crimes in Custer County District Court.

According to court documents, 48-year-old John Christopher Henson pleaded no contest on May 11 to the charges of use of vehicle in discharge of a weapon, feloniously pointing a firearm and assault with a dangerous weapon.

Records show the Weatherford Police Department received a report of a person in a vehicle, later identified as Henson, of shooting a gun at another person while in an alley. Henson also allegedly attempted to run the person over – hitting a dumpster in the process.

While talking with an officer, the victim would tell police that Henson had been harassing his daughter – trying to mend his relationship with the daughter.

The man would tell police that while in the alley, Henson allegedly drove close to him, pointed a pistol out of the window of the vehicle, and discharged it into the ground.

Henson is scheduled to appear before a judge for sentencing on June 22.
