Voters approve $5.975 million bond for Hinton Public Schools

Hinton, OK – Hinton voters passed the district’s bond proposal Tuesday, approving $5.975 million for facility upgrades across the district.

The proposition received 249 yes votes [70.9%], with 102 voting no [29.1%]. Total ballots cast: 351.

District officials said the projects will improve safety, learning spaces, and overall facility quality for students.

Planned work includes:

Middle school classroom addition and safe room, $3,158,385 [about 52.9% of the bond].

Roofing repairs or replacement at the multipurpose building, $1,833,130 [about 30.7%].

Districtwide site improvements, including lighting, utilities, drainage, and paving, $521,020 [about 8.7%].

Roofing repairs or replacement at the old cafeteria, $462,465 [about 7.7%].

Next steps include design, bidding, and construction scheduling, with timelines to be announced by the district.
