Sayre, OK – Authorities are still searching for 30-year-old Michael Moreno after he fled from custody last week in a bizarre scene that played out inside the Beckham County Sheriff’s Office.

According to Sheriff Derek Manning, Moreno had just learned that his bail had been revoked when he walked into the front lobby of the sheriff’s office alongside a bondsman. Upon realizing his legal situation had changed, Moreno turned around and bolted out of the building before deputies could intervene.

He basically got to the front lobby, decided ‘nope,’ and ran,” Manning said. “We didn’t know exactly what was going on at first. A couple of deputies saw him running toward the courthouse and north from there, but by the time they got to their vehicles and tried to locate him, he had already disappeared into the area north of the county annex.”

As of Tuesday morning, Moreno remains at large.

He was last seen wearing a long-sleeve camouflage shirt, blue jeans, a white and black ball cap, and white and red shoes. Law enforcement asks the public not to approach him and to report any sightings immediately.

If you have information on Michael Moreno’s whereabouts, contact the Beckham County Sheriff’s Office at 580-928-2121 or call 911.
