Oklahoma City, OK – Governor Kevin Stitt signed House Bill 1732 into law on Wednesday, May 7, 2025, officially granting Oklahoma public schools the authority to broadcast their own athletic events.
The bill, authored by Representative Anthony Moore (R-Clinton) and Senator Casey Murdock (R-Felt), with co-authors Representatives Cyndi Munson (D-Oklahoma City), Ty Burns (R-Morrison), Neil Hays (R-Checotah), Jared Deck (D-Norman), and Senator David Bullard (R-Durant), ensures schools can livestream or record athletic competitions without interference from outside media exclusivity contracts.
HB 1732 received unanimous support in both the House and the Senate, signaling strong bipartisan agreement on the importance of giving local schools more control over how they showcase their athletic programs.
An emergency clause in the bill sets the effective date as July 1, 2025. The legislation is expected to have no fiscal impact on the upcoming state budget.
