Custer County, OK — A Watonga teenager is facing criminal charges after allegedly pointing a loaded handgun at two individuals and firing multiple rounds into the air near the Canadian River Bridge on June 29.

Cole William Allen, 18, has been charged in Custer County District Court with one felony count of Feloniously Pointing a Firearm and one misdemeanor count of Reckless Conduct with a Firearm.

According to a probable cause affidavit, authorities responded to a 911 call about a man firing a gun and threatening people near the bridge just off Hwy 33. When police arrived, they located Allen and two others walking away from the river. After ordering them to show their hands, officers detained Allen.

Witnesses told police that Allen had been yelling at others at the river and pulled a handgun during the confrontation. He allegedly lowered the weapon toward two individuals before firing 5 to 6 shots into the air.

One witness described Allen as having previously held the weapon during an earlier argument.

Allen was arrested at the scene and taken to the Custer County Jail, where he declined to give a statement. His bond was set at $30,000. A preliminary hearing conference is scheduled for August 1 at 9:00 a.m.

The handgun used in the incident was not recovered.
