Two long-time Southwestern Oklahoma State University of Sayre instructors have announced their retirement at the end of the 2020 spring semester.

Biological Sciences Instructor Tommye Davis of Elk City and Radiologic Technology Director Jess Parker of Dill City are retiring from SWOSU after spending several years in the classroom.

Davis joined the SWOSU-Sayre faculty in 1990 after working 11 years for Pantex, an Amarillo nuclear weapons assembly, dismantlement and maintenance facility.

A SWOSU-Sayre radiologic technology graduate, Parker joined the program’s faculty as an instructor and clinical coordinator in 1999. Parker became program director in 2015.

Davis intends to spend more time with her family, including her new grandchild, and Parker will continue to farm his land in Washita County and serve as an on-call radiologic technologist for Great Plains Regional Medical Center in Elk City.

Though both are officially retiring, Davis and Parker plan to return to SWOSU in the fall and teach part time.

In related news, Sheana Thompson of Elk City was recently named the next SWOSU Radiologic Technology Program Director. Thompson has served as program Instructor/Clinical Coordinator since 2015.
