SWOSU Press Release

Southwestern Oklahoma State University (SWOSU) and Elk City High School (ECHS) are partnering to provide higher education opportunities for ECHS students.

SWOSU faculty from the Sayre and Weatherford campuses will teach college classes at Elk City High School for concurrently enrolled juniors and seniors this fall.

Elk City Schools reached out to us and asked if we’d be willing to teach classes on the high school campus,” said SWOSU-Sayre Site Coordinator and math faculty member Bill Swartwood. “We’re happy to make higher education more accessible for Elk City students and provide in-person instruction there.”

SWOSU faculty members have taught classes at various Elk City locations in the past, but this is the first time that classes have been offered at the high school specifically for ECHS students.

U.S. History to 1877, English Composition I, College Algebra, and Medical Terminology are the SWOSU classes offered at ECHS this fall.

Several SWOSU classes are also scheduled to be offered at ECHS in the spring.

Many classes taught at the SWOSU campus in Sayre are also broadcast live via Zoom for students who can’t make it to Sayre, providing greater flexibility for busy college students.

For more information about SWOSU-Sayre classes, call 580-928-5533. Fall classes begin on Aug. 21.
