Summer Sales Tax Intake Looking Good For I-40 Cities

The latest sales tax numbers have been released and two out of three of western Oklahoma’s largest communities is again over the $1 million mark.

According to the Oklahoma Tax Commission, the month of June was good for Elk City and Weatherford with both “in the black” when compared to 2022.

Starting in Elk City, the community brought in $1,246,172.90 a 3.1% increase while Weatherford brought in $1,103,811.62 – a 3.9% increase.

Clinton was down 4.5% by bringing in $542,531.94.

By comparison, the City of Altus was up 1% with an intake of $1,129,018.54 of sales tax dollars and Woodward brought in $1,144,335.52 – a 4.9% increase.

Smaller communities in the area had Mangum up 2.9% ($59,101.83), Cordell down 10% (93,477.73), and Sayre down 13% (139,791.34).
