A legislative luncheon was held at Elk City’s Arrowhead Center Friday that allowed a couple local state lawmakers to give the public an update on this year’s ongoing legislative session.

In attendance included District 55 Representative Nick Archer who spoke on various topics that he’s tackled during his first year in office.

One of those topics included Oklahoma’s on-going battle to regulate the medical marijuana industry. Archer said that a total of 55 bills were heard this year regarding the hot button issue.

Archer also announced that he has been appointed to represent Oklahoma on the Energy Council which is comprised of multiple gas producing states and providences in Canada. He said with those responsibilities, he plans on attending a conference in Washington D.C. in June to represent Oklahoma.

Also in attendance was Sen. Brent Howard and Congressman Frank Lucas Field Representative Wesley Javorsky.
